Eid Mubarak – Eid al-Adha is Friday, June 6! Join Us at the Blaisdell Center

Assalamu Alaikum dear brothers and sisters!

InshaAllah this message finds you in the best of health and strongest Iman.

Eid Mubarak! We are pleased to announce that Eid al-Adha will be on Friday, June 6, 2025, InshaAllah.

Alhamdulillah, We’re pleased to share that volunteers and others form the community successfully sighted the moon this evening here in Hawai‘i, confirming the start of Dhul Ḥijjah. This local sighting is in harmony with global reports and aligns with both traditional Islamic practice and astronomical data. As a result, the Day of ʿArafah will fall on Thursday, June 5, and Eid al-Adha will be celebrated on Friday, June 6, in unison with the majority of the Muslim world and communities across the United States.

These sacred days are a time of mercy, worship, and celebration. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

“There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days (of Dhul Ḥijjah).”

(Saḥīḥ al-Bukhārī)

We encourage all who are able to fast on the Day of ʿArafah—Thursday, June 5—about which the Prophet ﷺ said:

“Fasting the Day of ʿArafah expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year.”

(Saḥīḥ Muslim)

And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“The Day of ʿArafah, the Day of Sacrifice, and the Days of Tashrīq are our festival, the people of Islam, and they are days of eating and drinking.”

(Sunan al-Tirmidhī)

Please mark your calendars, invite your loved ones, and come celebrate with your community. May this Eid bring us all renewed faith, deeper unity, and lasting joy.

Eid Mubarak

Assalaamu Alaikum,

As we take in the last moments of Ramadan, we wish to extend a heartfelt Eid Mubarak to you and all your loved ones. May this day be filled with gratitude, love, and remembrance of Allah (SWT). As we celebrate Eid, let us fervently pray to Allah (SWT) that He grant us the ability to witness another Ramadan next year.

Moreover, let us remember in our prayers the countless brothers, sisters, and dear children around the world who continue to suffer and endure oppression, persecution, and injustice. May Allah (SWT) alleviate their pain, grant them strength, and bring an end to their hardships.

During Ramadan we experienced a heightened sense of iman through increased worship, remembrance, and supplication. Let us strive to maintain this level of closeness to Allah (SWT) in the months to come.

We look forward to greeting each of you at Eid Prayer.

Warm Regards,

MAH Executive Committee

Eid al-Fitr Update

Eid al-Fitr Update

Assalaamu Alaikum dear members of the Hawaii Muslim Community,

Insha’Allah this message finds you and your loved ones in good health and peace during this blessed month of Ramadan.

We are writing to inform you of a significant update regarding our Eid al-Fitr celebration this year. The recent and ongoing events in Palestine and Gaza, including deliberate genocide, starvation, and ethnic cleansing, have deeply shaken our community and filled our hearts with sorrow for the suffering endured by our brothers and sisters in the region.

As an act of solidarity and empathy, we have made the decision to limit this year’s Eid celebration to the prayer and khutba while postponing the festivities.

As you are aware, in Islam Eids have not been prescribed only for the purposes of joy, entertainment, and visiting one another; rather they are among the symbols and acts of worship in the religion. The Sunnah on these occasions is for Muslims to celebrate and proclaim them openly which we will insha’Allah accomplish with the Eid prayer.

Our beloved Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him “PBUH”) said “The parable of the believers in their affection, mercy, and compassion for each other is that of a body. When any limb aches, the whole body reacts with sleeplessness and fever.” He PBUH taught us the importance of empathy and compassion towards one another. He likened the believers to a single body, where if one part suffers, the entire body feels the pain. Our brothers and sisters in Palestine and Gaza are indeed suffering.

While we understand this decision may disappoint some, we believe it is necessary to honor the sanctity of this month and show respect to those who have been displaced from their homes, lost loved ones, and continue to live a recurring nightmare each day.

This does not mean that you should not have a joyous day with your family. On the contrary, after the Eid prayer, we encourage you to have an enjoyable day with your loved ones while taking the opportunity to educate your children on the matter and show them how blessed and privileged they are. We will be organizing opportunities for community members to contribute to relief efforts and support initiatives aimed at providing humanitarian aid as well as sponsoring orphans in the region.

We appreciate your understanding and support and look forward to seeing you all at Eid Prayer. This year, it is estimated to take place on Wednesday, April 10. Eid prayer will be held at Keehi Lagoon Memorial, Burns Hall at 9:00AM.  As is our policy, we will confirm the date and details the evening prior.

May Allah (SWT) grant relief to those who are suffering and guide us all towards a path of peace and justice.

Warm Regards,

MAH Executive Committee

The program is subject to change and may go on longer. If you do not plan to stay for the entire program, please park your cars outside as we will not be asking people to move their cars.

As a reminder please be mindful of our neighbors when parking in the residential area surrounding the Masjid. Please do not park illegally and do not block our neighbors' driveways.

Due to the ongoing repairs and improvements on the property, we will be unable to host communal iftaars in the Masjid this year.

Please be advised that the dates sold at Costco are a product of Israel. If you have already mistakenly purchased them, they will be accepted as a return.

As we embark on this month-long spiritual journey, let us set our intentions to increase our worship and seek closeness to Allah. May our hearts be filled with gratitude, humility, and compassion as so many of our brothers and sisters around the world will struggle to meet the basic needs that we freely enjoy.

Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed Ramadan filled with peace, blessings, and spiritual abundance.

Warm regards,

MAH Executive Committee
