Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatu-Allah wa barakatuh,

In accordance with our established policy, we are pleased to announce that the month of Ramadan will begin tomorrow, Wednesday, February 18, and Taraweeh prayers will commence tonight, Tuesday, February 17, following Isha prayer InshaAllah.

Although the moon was not sighted locally here in Hawai‘i, there have been confirmed sightings in other regions across different geographical areas. In accordance with MAH’s moon-sighting policy, which accepts verified sightings beyond our local horizon when reliably established, we will honor those reports. Therefore, we confirm that the first day of Ramadan will be tomorrow, InshaAllah.

 Allah SWT says:

 “O you who believe, fasting has been prescribed upon you as it was prescribed upon those before you, that you may attain taqwā.” (Qur’an 2:183)

 The Prophet SWS said:

“Whoever fasts Ramadan with faith and seeking reward, all of their past sins will be forgiven.” (Bukhari & Muslim)

We ask Allah SWT to allow us to reach Ramadan and to accept from us our fasting, our prayers, our duaa, and our Qiyam. May HE SWT make this month a means of mercy, forgiveness, and elevation for all of us. May He grant us sincerity, strength, and consistency in worship, unite our community upon goodness, and bring relief to those facing hardship around the world.

We welcome this blessed month with gratitude and excitement and look forward to coming together in worship, reflection, and community.Finally, as we welcome the blessed nights of Ramadan, we kindly ask everyone to be mindful of parking within the neighborhood and to respect our neighbors at all times. In Islam, honoring one’s neighbor is not only a noble character but an emphasized obligation.

 The Prophet SWS  said

“Jibrīl continued to advise me regarding the neighbor until I thought he would make him an heir.” (Bukhari & Muslim)

 and he SWS also said

“Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not harm his neighbor.”

Please note that the program will begin at 8:15 PM and conclude around 9:45 PM. For those parking inside the MAH parking lot, cars will not be moved until the program is completed. If you anticipate needing to leave earlier, we kindly ask that you park outside the MAH lot, while ensuring you do not block driveways or inconvenience our neighbors.

Being considerate—avoiding blocking driveways, keeping noise to a minimum, and parking responsibly—is part of our deen and reflects our community’s character.

We are excited and honored to welcome back our beloved former Imam, Dr. Ismail Elshikh, and his family for a special visit to our community from June 15 to July 2. Imam Ismail holds a special place in our hearts, and we are grateful to host him once again in Hawai‘i.

We’ve worked closely with Imam Ismail to prepare a rich and meaningful program designed to benefit the entire community—brothers, sisters, youth, students, and families alike.

All events will take place at the masjid, and we warmly encourage you to attend and take full advantage of this blessed opportunity. We are especially looking forward to Imam Ismail’s world-renowned Qur’anic recitation and his insightful reflections rooted in deep knowledge and love for Islam.

Alhamdulillah, what a truly beautiful and heartwarming Eid al-Adha celebration we shared together this past weekend!

It was wonderful to see such a large and vibrant gathering for Eid prayer on Friday, and even more joyful to witness so many families and children enjoying the festivities on Saturday. From the heartfelt takbeerat to the sounds of laughter at the carnival games, every moment reminded us of the blessings of community and the joy of coming together as brothers and sisters in Islam.

We extend our deepest gratitude to every one of you who joined us to mark this joyous occasion. Your presence brought warmth and energy to the celebration, and we pray that Allah (SWT) accepts your worship, sacrifices, and prayers during these blessed days.

A very special thank you goes to our amazing volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. Many of them stepped away from enjoying the event themselves in order to ensure that others had a smooth, welcoming, and meaningful experience. May Allah reward their selflessness, bless their families, and elevate their ranks—ameen!

Eid Mubarak! We are pleased to announce that Eid al-Adha will be on Friday, June 6, 2025, InshaAllah.

Alhamdulillah, We’re pleased to share that volunteers and others form the community successfully sighted the moon this evening here in Hawai‘i, confirming the start of Dhul Ḥijjah. This local sighting is in harmony with global reports and aligns with both traditional Islamic practice and astronomical data. As a result, the Day of ʿArafah will fall on Thursday, June 5, and Eid al-Adha will be celebrated on Friday, June 6, in unison with the majority of the Muslim world and communities across the United States.

 These sacred days are a time of mercy, worship, and celebration. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

“There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days (of Dhul Ḥijjah).”

(Saḥīḥ al-Bukhārī)

 We encourage all who are able to fast on the Day of ʿArafah—Thursday, June 5—about which the Prophet ﷺ said:

“Fasting the Day of ʿArafah expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year.”

(Saḥīḥ Muslim)

 We are also excited to share our Eid al-Adha prayer and community celebration schedule at the Blaisdell Center:

 Friday, June 6 – Eid Prayer

   •   Takbīrāt Begin: 9:00 AM

   •   Eid Prayer and Khuṭbah: 9:30 AM

We should be done by 11 AM InshaAllah

Saturday, June 7 – Full Community Celebration

   •   Location: Exhibition Hall, Blaisdell Center

   •   Activities Begin: 11:00 AM

   •   Join us for:

• Catered halal lunch

• Bounce houses and inflatables

• Face painting and arts & crafts

• Carnival games and prize giveaways

• Kids’ corner and special surprises

• A warm space for families and friends to gather in joy and faith

Allah reminds us in the Qur’an:

“That they may witness benefits for themselves and mention the name of Allah on known days…”

(Sūrat al-Ḥajj, 22:28)

 And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“The Day of ʿArafah, the Day of Sacrifice, and the Days of Tashrīq are our festival, the people of Islam, and they are days of eating and drinking.”

(Sunan al-Tirmidhī)

Please mark your calendars, invite your loved ones, and come celebrate with your community. May this Eid bring us all renewed faith, deeper unity, and lasting joy.

Given the potential for Eid to fall on either Friday, June 6 or Saturday, June 7, here is our tentative schedule:

Saturday, June 7 – Full Community Celebration
