Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
The Muslim Association of Hawaii, in coordination with Islamic Relief USA, is pleased to welcome Dr. Saad Eldegwy and Shaykh Ibrahim Bakeer to Honolulu for a special weekend of Qur’an, Islamic reminders, Zakat education, and humanitarian support for our brothers and sisters in Gaza.
We invite the entire community to join us throughout the weekend.
Friday, August 28 – Jumuʻah Prayers
Dr. Saad Eldegwy will join us at the Masjid on Friday and participate in our Jumuʻah program.
We currently hold two Jumuʻah prayers:
First Jumuʻah – 12:45 PM
Second Jumuʻah – 1:45 PM
We encourage the community to welcome our guests and benefit from their visit.
Fundraising for Islamic Relief USA’s humanitarian efforts in Gaza will begin following Jumuʻah prayers on Friday and will continue throughout the weekend, concluding at the end of Saturday evening’s Qur’an Night program.
Friday Evening – Zakat Program
Friday, August 28 – After Maghrib Prayer

On Friday evening, Dr. Saad Eldegwy will present a special program on Zakat, inshaAllah, immediately following Maghrib prayer.
The discussion will provide an opportunity for community members to learn more about the principles and responsibilities of Zakat and to ask questions on this important pillar of Islam.
Saturday, August 29 – Qur’an Night: Unity Through Recitation
The weekend will culminate with a special community gathering centered around the Qur’an, reflection, unity, and support for Gaza.

Shaykh Ibrahim Bakeer
Shaykh Ibrahim Bakeer graduated from Al-Azhar University with a Master’s degree in Qur’anic Science and currently serves as Imam of the Islamic Society of Greater Kansas City. He is the founder of Muqamat Institute and holds an ijazah in the Hafs recitation of the Qur’an with a distinguished chain of transmission.
Shaykh Ibrahim is known for teaching Qur’an recitation and vocal beautification to Huffaz and students around the world through his educational platforms, which have reached millions of viewers.
Dr. Saad Eldegwy
Dr. Saad Eldegwy holds a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies, an MA in Counseling from San Diego State University, and a BA in Arabic Language and Islamic Studies from Dar El-Oloum Faculty in Cairo, Egypt.
He is active with several national Islamic and interfaith organizations, including the North American Imams Federation and the Assembly of Muslim Jurists of America, and serves as a motivational speaker for Islamic Relief USA. He is also a certified fundraising manager.
Supporting Gaza
A central purpose of the weekend is to support Islamic Relief USA’s humanitarian efforts in Gaza.
Islamic Relief continues to provide critical humanitarian assistance, including support for medical care, medications and medical supplies, hospitals, food, clean water, seasonal distributions, and other emergency relief for families affected by the ongoing crisis.
Donations for Gaza will be collected beginning after Jumuʻah on Friday and throughout the Friday evening and Saturday programs, with the fundraising effort concluding at the end of Qur’an Night on Saturday.
We encourage our community to participate generously and stand together in support of our brothers and sisters in Gaza.
This will be a special opportunity for our community to benefit from distinguished guests, strengthen our connection with the Qur’an, learn about Zakat, come together in fellowship, and support those in urgent need.
