Stay up to date on the latest from MAH.
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
Dear respected community members,
Alhamdulillah, last Friday’s implementation of two Jumu’ah prayer sessions went very smoothly, and we thank everyone for their cooperation, and support. As we continue building on that success, MAH will again hold two Friday prayer sessions tomorrow:
First Session: 12:45 PM
Second Session: 1:45 PM
We are especially grateful to the many community members who have shared constructive feedback and relevant expertise throughout this process. Their contributions, together with the efforts of volunteers and coordination with public agencies, have played an important role in helping MAH successfully implement and refine these measures. We also appreciate the continued engagement of City agencies, HPD, and the Honolulu Fire Department, including the fire safety inspection that took place yesterday. As we continue to receive observations and feedback from these agencies based on last week’s implementation and ongoing evaluations, we will make adjustments where appropriate to further improve the experience for both worshippers and neighbors.
Based on the attendance survey responses received so far, we kindly ask those who indicated that either session works for them to attend the 1:45 PM session whenever possible. This will help distribute attendance more evenly, reduce congestion, and allow both sessions to run smoothly.
We also ask everyone to use the designated parking areas first, including the church parking areas and available masjid parking, and to avoid neighborhood street parking as much as possible. Please follow all volunteer instructions, parking directions, and posted regulations.
As Muslims, respecting our neighbors is part of our faith. Allah says:
“Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and be good to parents, relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbor and the distant neighbor.” (Qur’an 4:36)
The Prophet ﷺ also said:
“Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should honor his neighbor.” (Bukhari and Muslim)
Please remember that lawful and respectful parking is not only a civic responsibility but also an Islamic obligation. We ask everyone to be especially mindful not to block driveways, obstruct traffic, park in prohibited areas, or create inconvenience for our neighbors.
Attendance at each session remains subject to available capacity. Once a session reaches capacity, no additional attendees will be admitted to that session. We therefore ask everyone to follow volunteer instructions and help ensure a smooth transition between the two prayers.
Those attending the 12:45 PM session are kindly requested to exit the masjid and parking areas promptly after prayer so volunteers can prepare for the second session. Those attending the 1:45 PM session are asked not to arrive before 1:30 PM, as parking and gate access for the second session will not open until that time.
If you have not yet completed the Jumu’ah attendance survey, please do so. Your response helps us better understand attendance patterns, plan future Friday prayer services, evaluate the effectiveness of the current two-session format, and determine whether additional measures, including a reservation system, may become necessary in the future.

We appreciate everyone’s continued cooperation as we work together to protect the masjid, preserve our ability to worship, and maintain positive relationships with our neighbors.
May Allah reward you, accept your worship, and bless our community.

We are excited to extend a warm invitation to you and your family to join us for the Eid ul-Adha prayer and celebration on June 16, 2024, at the Blaisdell Center. This auspicious occasion will be a wonderful opportunity for us to come together as a community to commemorate the spirit of sacrifice and devotion exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS).
The program for the day will commence with Takbeerat at 8:45 AM, followed by the Eid prayer and Khutba at 9:20 AM. After the prayer and sermon, we will gather for a delightful breakfast at 10:00 AM to share in the joyous atmosphere of Eid.
Throughout the day, there will be various activities planned for our community members of all ages. Kids can enjoy inflatable rides and engaging games, while adults can socialize and partake in snacks provided by our generous volunteers. We encourage everyone to bring their families and friends to make this Eid celebration truly memorable.
In addition, we will observe the Dhuhr prayer at 1:00 PM, followed by a scrumptious lunch at 1:20 PM. Following the prayers and lunch, we will resume our festivities, ensuring that there is something for everyone to enjoy.
We will conclude the day with the Asr prayer at 4:00 PM, followed by more fun-filled activities until 6:00 PM. There are plenty parking spaces available, but we suggest that you consider carpooling with fellow community members. Please note that the Blaisdell center charges a parking fee of $8 per vehicle.
As we eagerly anticipate this joyous occasion, let us reflect on the significance of Eid ul-Adha and the lessons of sacrifice, compassion, and generosity it embodies. Let us strive to emulate the noble qualities of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as we come together in celebration and prayer.

As we take in the last moments of Ramadan, we wish to extend a heartfelt Eid Mubarak to you and all your loved ones. May this day be filled with gratitude, love, and remembrance of Allah (SWT). As we celebrate Eid, let us fervently pray to Allah (SWT) that He grant us the ability to witness another Ramadan next year.
Moreover, let us remember in our prayers the countless brothers, sisters, and dear children around the world who continue to suffer and endure oppression, persecution, and injustice. May Allah (SWT) alleviate their pain, grant them strength, and bring an end to their hardships.
During Ramadan we experienced a heightened sense of iman through increased worship, remembrance, and supplication. Let us strive to maintain this level of closeness to Allah (SWT) in the months to come.
We look forward to greeting each of you at Eid Prayer.
Warm Regards,
MAH Executive Committee

Assalaamu Alaikum dear members of the Hawaii Muslim Community,
Insha’Allah this message finds you and your loved ones in good health and peace during this blessed month of Ramadan.
We are writing to inform you of a significant update regarding our Eid al-Fitr celebration this year. The recent and ongoing events in Palestine and Gaza, including deliberate genocide, starvation, and ethnic cleansing, have deeply shaken our community and filled our hearts with sorrow for the suffering endured by our brothers and sisters in the region.
As an act of solidarity and empathy, we have made the decision to limit this year’s Eid celebration to the prayer and khutba while postponing the festivities.
As you are aware, in Islam Eids have not been prescribed only for the purposes of joy, entertainment, and visiting one another; rather they are among the symbols and acts of worship in the religion. The Sunnah on these occasions is for Muslims to celebrate and proclaim them openly which we will insha’Allah accomplish with the Eid prayer.
Our beloved Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him “PBUH”) said “The parable of the believers in their affection, mercy, and compassion for each other is that of a body. When any limb aches, the whole body reacts with sleeplessness and fever.” He PBUH taught us the importance of empathy and compassion towards one another. He likened the believers to a single body, where if one part suffers, the entire body feels the pain. Our brothers and sisters in Palestine and Gaza are indeed suffering.
While we understand this decision may disappoint some, we believe it is necessary to honor the sanctity of this month and show respect to those who have been displaced from their homes, lost loved ones, and continue to live a recurring nightmare each day.
This does not mean that you should not have a joyous day with your family. On the contrary, after the Eid prayer, we encourage you to have an enjoyable day with your loved ones while taking the opportunity to educate your children on the matter and show them how blessed and privileged they are. We will be organizing opportunities for community members to contribute to relief efforts and support initiatives aimed at providing humanitarian aid as well as sponsoring orphans in the region.
We appreciate your understanding and support and look forward to seeing you all at Eid Prayer. This year, it is estimated to take place on Wednesday, April 10. Eid prayer will be held at Keehi Lagoon Memorial, Burns Hall at 9:00AM. As is our policy, we will confirm the date and details the evening prior.
May Allah (SWT) grant relief to those who are suffering and guide us all towards a path of peace and justice.
Warm Regards,
MAH Executive Committee
