Dear brothers and sisters,
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
All praise is due to Allah SWT, Lord of the worlds. Peace and blessings be upon our beloved Prophet Muhammad SWS, his family, his Companions, and all who follow his guidance until the Day of Judgment.
The Saudi Supreme Court has officially confirmed the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent moon. Accordingly, and consistent with the Muslim Association of Hawaii’s established Eid al-Adha policy previously shared with the community:
• Monday, May 18, 2026 corresponds to 1 Dhul Hijjah 1447 AH
• Tuesday, May 26, 2026 will be the Day of Arafah
• Wednesday, May 27, 2026 will be Eid al-Adha, inshaAllah
As outlined in our policy, MAH follows the official Hajj calendar for Dhul Hijjah, the Day of Arafah, and Eid al-Adha, recognizing the direct connection between Eid al-Adha and the rites of Hajj in Makkah.
The Prophet SWS said:
“Fasting the Day of Arafah expiates the sins of the previous year and the coming year.”
(Sahih Muslim)
We encourage the community to take advantage of these blessed days, especially the Day of Arafah, through fasting, dua, dhikr, repentance, recitation of the Quran, and acts of worship.
For the past several months, MAH volunteers have been actively working to secure a larger venue for Eid prayer and community activities. After extensive outreach and communication with multiple venues, final confirmations of venue unavailability were only received in recent days.
Accordingly, Eid prayer will inshaAllah be held at the masjid this year, as has been done successfully in previous years.

We ask Allah SWT to accept the Hajj of the pilgrims, accept our fasting, prayers, sacrifices, and good deeds, and to bless our community with unity, mercy, and steadfastness.
“Our Lord, do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from Yourself.”
(Surat Aal Imran 3:8)
Eid Mubarak to you and your families.
Jazakum Allah Kheir,
Muslim Association of Hawaii
